Luxury Properties Costa Rica was founded by four close friends and partners—Ian and
Sayaka McPherson, and Eric and Johanna Sachs—who shared a common belief: that
the Costa Rica luxury real estate market deserved a brokerage defined by excellence,
cutting edge technology, professionalism, and a higher standard of client
representation.
Each founder brings a distinct and complementary background, combining deep local
expertise, international real estate experience, luxury hospitality standards, and world-
class marketing innovation.
Ian McPherson has been a respected presence in the Guanacaste real estate
community for over eight years. He has represented high-net-worth clients from around
the world and is also one of the region’s most accomplished custom home builders.

Sayaka McPherson is a renowned graphic designer and serial entrepreneur known for
her refined aesthetic and brand vision. Her work brings a sophisticated creative
perspective to the brokerage, ensuring that every property is presented with the level of
design and visual excellence expected in the global luxury market. As a respected
architectural designer, Sayaka has created some of the most iconic homes in the
region, making Luxury Properties Costa Rica a full service real estate brokerage from
purchase, to design and build. Her entrepreneurial success, including founding Purr a
Vida Cat Café in Guanacaste, reflects her ability to build distinctive and respected
brands.
Johanna Sachs, a Costa Rican native, brings a unique blend of local knowledge, real
estate expertise, and luxury hospitality experience. She began her career in luxury hotel
concierge services, where she developed a deep understanding of high-level client
care and service standards. She later built extensive experience in real estate sales and
property management, overseeing multifamily properties and large investment
portfolios. In addition to her work in Costa Rica, she is also a licensed Realtor in
Colorado, providing her with a strong foundation in North American real estate
practices.
Eric Sachs brings more than two decades of real estate brokerage, marketing, and
technology experience. After building and successfully selling a real estate brokerage
in Colorado, he went on to become an internationally recognized real estate marketing
consultant. He is the founder of BreakthroughBroker.com, one of the most widely used
real estate marketing platforms in the industry, utilized by hundreds of thousands ofagents across North America. His expertise in marketing strategy, technology, and
brokerage operations forms the foundation of the company’s modern and forward-
thinking approach.
Together, the four founders recognized an opportunity to create something
